‘Recovering the Satellites’ is the second studio album by American rock band Counting Crows, released in 1996, in the United States. Released three years (and two years of worldwide touring) after their debut album, it reached No. 1 in the United States and was a top seller in Australia, Canada, and the UK as well. For years, singer Adam Duritz felt this was his favorite album by the band. Joining Duritz in recording the album were founding band members David Bryson (guitar), Charlie Gillingham (keyboards), Matt Malley (bass), as well as new additions Ben Mize (drums) and Dan Vickrey (guitars). Multi-instrumentalist David Immergluck played on the album as a session musician as well. Counting Crows brought in producer Gil Norton for ‘Recovering the Satellites’. (The track “Miller’s Angels” was produced by Marvin Etzioni.) Three singles were released from the album, with “A Long December” being the best charting, reaching number 6 in the US and number 1 in Canada. The album itself peaked on the top spot of the Billboard Hot 200 album chart and has been certified double-platinum in both the US and Canada.

The 40th anniversary of legendary Queen singer Freddie Mercury’s majestic debut solo album Mr Bad Guy is being celebrated with a lavish new vinyl reissue.

Originally released end of April 1985, Mr Bad Guy was Mercury’s first album away from the group he had co-founded 15 years before and helped steer to staggering artistic and commercial heights. It found him breaking free from the confines of a band, swapping Queen’s chameleonic, arena-sized music for a set of songs that combined his unique songwriting with a driving, dance and pop-inspired sound.

Stankonia is the fourth studio album by Andre 3000 and Big Boi, known together as OutKast. The album include the huge hit singles “B.O.B”, “So Fresh, So Clean” and “Ms. Jackson”. Throughout the years, Stankonia has been regarded by many to be one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time and went certified platinum throughout the globe.

While OutKast’s previous albums were considered to be laid-back, mellow efforts, Stankonia contains faster, more high-energy tempos, partially to reflect the “chaotic times” and drug-related incidents at the turn of the 21st century.
