M PEOPLE – NORTHERN SOUL (2LP BLUE VINYL) RSD ’26

Featuring the singles “Colour My Life,” “How Can I Love You More” (the band’s first top ten hit), “Excited,” and “Someday,” M People’s debut album was released in 1992 by Deconstruction Records. It was the early days of an extraordinarily creative period for electronic and dance music in the UK, during which DJ-driven artists began to make an indelible mark, and the songs and production of Mike Pickering (one of the original DJs at Manchester’s Haçienda) and Paul Heard, along with Heather Small’s highly distinctive vocals, were at the forefront of this success. By the mid-decade, the group was truly at the height of their success, with overseas hits and a Mercury Music Prize under their belt for their second album, Elegant Slumming, and Northern Soul was reissued with an altered tracklist, before being remastered and expanded ten years later. It is this remastered version from 2005, consisting of 15 tracks spread across two discs, that is now being released on vinyl for the first time.
