Its Greek title, ‘Notias’, means ‘South wind.’ Suffering from the mental illness Mythopathy, the protagonist invents stories when this particular wind blows. A journey from myth to reality, the film tells the story of Stavros and his journey from adolescence to adulthood in the 1960s and ’70s. ‘Mythopathy’ is almost a personal diary of the main character as he strives to make his dreams come true. It is also a film about the role myths play in the lives of Greeks – a bittersweet comedy about first love, heartbreak and political engagement. We follow Stavros up until the moment he decides to become a film director. Along the way, he invents stories incorporating ancient myths, long journeys and beautiful women. In reality, he faces rejection from a number of women. Eventually, he faces reality and discovers what he really wants from life.
