Warner Classics is the custodian of Maria Callas’s discography, which is centred on the studio recordings that she made for both EMI/Columbia and the Italian label Cetra between 1949 and 1969.
Maria Callas’s recordings exemplify the glories of the LP era of the 1950s and 1960s. Each of these two newly compiled vinyl albums celebrates her inspiration and achievement in both the recording studio and in live performance. One side of each album is devoted to studio recordings of arias, the other to live recordings.
Maria Callas: La Divina is available in three different forms: on black vinyl and – as a limited edition – on red vinyl or as a picture disc (with a bonus track). It features arias by Puccini, Bizet, Verdi, Catalani, Bellini and Donizetti.

A few months after the release of the new Callas Live Remastered Edition, Warner Classics continue to release her legendary studio albums on vinyl, using the state of the art remastering done in 2014. It’s the only existing studio recording of La traviata by Maria Callas. (1953). Violetta, the most complex and fully-rounded of Verdi’s heroines, was one of the roles that defined Maria Callas as an artist. She performed it more than 60 times between 1951 and 1958, most famously in Luchino Visconti’s production at La Scala in 1955/56. It is often said that the role demands a different kind of voice for each act, and, when she made this recording for the Cetra label in 1953, Callas offered youthful, ringing power complemented by coloratura prowess and the capacity for great delicacy.
